Help Needed

If there are any parents that are available to help proctor the testing on Tuesday-Friday, please contact me. I will be in charge of testing the 4th and 6th graders and could use the help with handing out, collecting, and watching. Math - We took Test 2 today. Students should make corrections on the test for tomorrow
English - We shared our Final Drafts in class today, No Assignment
Literature - Study for Literary Terms Test!!
Music/Art - No Assignment
Science - Students were put in groups to read Lesson 2 and take notes. They are to come with 5 quiz questions for tomorrow and be ready to take a classmate's quiz tomorrow.
History -We talked about our lesson on Egypt. Students are to create an attractive travel brochure for tomorrow.
Spelling - Test 3 is tomorrow. Has your student been on Spelling City this week? Encourage them to do so this evening! Worksheets are all due tomorrow.

English - Rough Drafts for "My Favorite Colors" due Wednesday
Literature - The theme of our story, "The Cougar, the Wildcat, and the Giant" is friendship. Students are to write a paragraph about one of their friends and their good qualities.
Art/Music - No Assignment
Science - We started our study of Chapter 3 on Weathering. We read most of Lesson 1 together and took notes, No Assignment
History - We started Chapter 3 on the Nile River Valley, Read Lesson 1, Graphic Organizer, and Wb. 24
Spelling - List 3 will be on the website to the right, "Spelling City", we took the pre-test today and went through worksheets that will be due on Friday in their spelling workbooks

Announcements:

1. Please be sure to check your child's assignments each night. We have had a number of late sheets handed out in the last few weeks. This blog is very useful for asking your students what they learned today and what there assignment was and is it done and in your folder/binder.

First of all...what a weekend! 3 Brewer wins, 1 Badger win, 1 Packer win - the 6th graders can look forward to a very happy teacher come Tuesday morning! Speaking of sports, congratulations to the B team volleyball ladies who played very well on Saturday at the St. Paul's, Muskego Tourney - you were fun to watch!

Literature - Read another poem today, this one by Shel Silverstein, "Whatif". Students are to write their own "Whatif" or "how does" or "why does" poem for tomorrow. (aabb rhyming pattern!)
Music/Art - No Assignment
Science - We finished up our study on Volcanoes. Students have posters to finish and Ws. 3
History - We discussed the Babylon and Assyrian empires today. Read Lesson 4 (Jewish Religion), take notes, and Wb. 22 for tomorrow.
Handwriting - We will do handwriting tomorrow!

Announcements:

1. Picture Day is tomorrow!

2. All of a sudden, we have a lot of students who are seeming to be under the weather...sneezing, sniffling, coughing, etc. We we will do our best to clean in the classroom and wash our hands as to not spread germs. Students are reminded to get a good nights rest, eat a good breakfast, have some OJ, and anything else to STAY HEALTHY!

Literature - We read the poem, "Painted the Gate," by May Swenson, discussed imagery and rhyming patters, No Assignment
Music/Art - No Assignment, students have been working on Origami
Science - We began our study on volcanoes, No Assignment
History - Introduced our lesson on Babylon and Assyria, students are supposed to find out how Babylon rose to power, what the "Code of Hammurabi" is, and what style of warfare Assyria had, Read Lesson 3, take notes, Wb. 21

Students in 6th grade are allowed to wear hats, face paint, cheese heads....in other words: go all out! Let's have a fun day celebrating the opening of another great football season and our WORLD CHAMPION Green Bay Packers!

Welcome back, everyone. I hope this post finds you enjoying the beginning of a new week. What a blessing it was to have an extra day to spend with family and friends and relax! Just a reminder that our field trip is planned for Friday. Hot lunch starts this week on Wednesday and Friday. Assignments:

Christ Light - None
Memory Work - All of the Old Testament Books for Tuesday
Catechism - Ws. 2...don't forget the "With Your Family" section!
Math - Lesson 7, #1-30 and Early Finishers
English - Vocabulary Word (reiterate) in word box and Ws. 4. We added adverbs and adjectives to our question and answer flow now!
Literature - No Assignment, we did a class quiz and watched a cartoon on "The Happy Prince" and shared our newspaper articles on "Mazy May"
Music/Art - Finish Shoe Drawing for Tuesday
Science - We started to read Chapter 1 about earthquakes...no assignment!
History - Study for Chapter 1 Test which will take place on Tuesday

Assignments:

Christ Light - Ws. 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b (all worksheets from past week and a half are due tomorrow)
Memory Work - Hymn 384 "By Grace I'm Saved" st. 1 & 2
Catechism - The Two Great Teachings of the Bible, Ws. 2
Math - Fractional parts, Lesson 6 #1-30
English - Nouns, Verbs, Sentence classifying pattern 1, Ws. 3
Literature - "Happy Prince" vocabulary words & "Mazy May" Newspaper Article
Music/Art - Finish Shoe Drawing for Friday
Science - Chapter 1 Test is a take-home, open book test. Some students were able to finish it in class
History - Review for Test using page at the end of chapter (students worked on this today with groups) and Wb. 17
Spelling - All worksheets for Week 1 in pink books should be completed. Test is tomorrow!

Announcements:

1. The following items are coming home today in folders:TST (check your email!), September school calendar, Drama Club note, Volleyball volunteer schedule (only to some), Field Trip note, PTA notes, picture order forms, and papers from this past week to be reviewed by the parents. Pink slips should be signed and brought back tomorrow.

2. MISSION OFFERING ENVELOPES - Please consider donating money to our 1st quarter mission project, Grace Lutheran School in Kenai, Alaska. (Miss Lau's best friend from grade school, high school, and college is the principal there!)

3. PTA meeting at 6:30 pm! See you ALL There!
