Literature - We began a short story entitled, "Dragon, Dragon". Students should go through the 1st part that was read today and pick out any unknown words.

7/8 Geography - We watched a video on the geography of the countries around the Andes Mountains. Students received their Map Test study guide for South America. This should be filled out by Friday, December 2nd. Map Test is set for Friday, December 16.

Science - We classified a box of rocks today. We found some cool stuff such as a chunk Amethyst from Brazil that cost $1.50! Thanks to Miss Lau's dad for lending us his collection for our unit.
English - Persuassive Essay outline (checked by me with an "OK") and rough draft

Chinese Food and Memory Work

Just a reminder to get those party slips in by Wednesday. The new Memory Work calendar for December came home today along with the Christmas Service for this year. Recitation A is due tomorrow, narrator parts due on Wednesday, Hymn 55 st. 1 & 2 on Thursday, and Hymn 55 st. 3 & 4 on Friday. I would have the calendar on the blog, but a website I use to do that is not working properly. I will hopefully get that up tomorrow.

Week of 11/28 - 12/2

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! My break was spent on the west side of the state in Onalaska. Lots of family time, early morning shopping, bowling, games, and lots of time with my puppy nephew, Mauer, made for a GREAT few days away; however, I am ready to get back in the classroom!

We will start practicing for our Christmas Eve service this week. Memory Work will be a bit heavier the first couple weeks of December. I will be asking for you the parents to listen to them at home and send in a slip saying that they did it well for you. This will help us out in the classroom by saving us some time.

World History - We talked about Alexander the Great (not AZ) and his accomplishments; Wb. 48 on Chapter 6 vocabulary
Science - We began our Lesson on rocks; finish reading Lesson 1 and Ws. 6-1

With a short week this week, we do not have a lot going on. I am looking for a parent volunteer to possibly watch the kids on Wednesday at about 2:15 till the end of the day. Let me know if you are able and willing.

1. We had a surprise for the students today: The Windy City Players came and performed "Tom Sawyer" for us. JG even got to be a part of the play! Because of the play, we do not have a Science assignment for Monday.

2. We got a new classmate. Curly is black and brown and fuzzy. So far he listens to his teacher and gets along with his classmates. He was a little noisy at lunch time during devotion but with a little instruction, he will learn to behave appropriately.

Happy 11/11/11 and Veteran's Day! Thanking God for all those who have served, are serving, or will serve for our country and the freedoms we enjoy.
