Welcome to a new week!

We had a great discussion this morning during Christ Light class about being, "fishers of men." We studied Luke 5:1-11 where Jesus called his disciples to no longer catch fish, but "catch" people for him. In a sense, we are called to be fishers of men, as well. One of those opportunities presents itself as we assemble to canvass the neighborhoods on Thursday afternoon as a class. The students seem very excited to help their church in this small way. If you are unable to help us on Thursday but would still like to help in the flyer delivery effort, there is a canvassing day set for this Saturday starting at 10 am and running until 3 pm with a potluck at noon. All are welcome!

Homework:

Christ Light - Ws. 9a on being fishers of men
Catechism - Ws. 14 from Thursday..."With Your Family"
Memory Work - #838, 844, 856 in blue Catechism book
Math - Lesson 29 All
Science - We began reading about cell division today and it correlated with what Mrs. Erbe talked about to us this morning during her presentation...tomorrow we look forward to Mr. Erbe coming in and showing us all the cool bacteria that we grew today!
History - We started a politics unit today. The students are living through history this year and I want to take advantage of that. The 8th graders in my American History class are running a mock election in which they have taken on the roles of made-up candidates, campaign managers, reports, etc. We look forward to learning from them, as well as taking a day or two off of "normal" history class to learn about the election process ourselves.  This week, students are to take a look at one or two political ads and fill out the sheet given to them today. This is due on Friday.

PE - We started our football game today. We will play this week and next and then finish up our unit with assessments during the first few weeks of November.

WoD: Canvassing

God's Blessings,

Miss Lau
