Welcome back!

I hope that everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. I enjoyed time spent with family, even though it was a very cold Saturday of sitting and watching softball and football!

On Monday, our faculty spent the day at Shoreland Lutheran High School with other teachers from the area learning about forms of assessments.  There are many ways that teachers can assess students and it is not just through a test or a written assignment. I will be working on implementing a few of the ideas that I learned yesterday including one that I already used with the students today. They are called "exit cards" and I will mainly use them for Math. They are mini-assignments that the students do before we are done with math class. They tell me if the concept taught was grasped. I correct them and then talk over the ones marked wrong with the individual student. Today went very well! I did promise to make the writing space easier to write on...I'm still learning :-)

Homework:

Christ Light - Ws. 7b from last Wednesday
Catechism - Ws. 13
Memory Work - #792, 793 in blue Catechism book
Math - Lesson 26, all
English - Ws. 15/13...review of the chapter. Chapter TEST on Thursday!
Literature - We are reading a short story that deals with the tough topic of bullying. Discuss with your children the importance of being open and honest with you and with me if this issue ever arises.
Science - Simple diagram of a cell in their Science notebook
History - We watched a video (slightly cheesy...) on the Nile River. If anyone has any books at home on Egypt that they'd like to bring in to share, that would be greatly appreciated!
Spelling - Pg. 53 and Ws.
Handwriting - Assignment from Thursday

WoD: windy (hold on to your hats out there!)

God's Blessings,

Miss Lau
